Green Grids Initiative at Singapore International Energy Week 2026

Singapore International Energy week is taking place in late October 2026, more than seven months into the crisis in the Middle East.

GGI will be at SIEW, Future of the Grid and the Asia Clean Energy Summit to share our work on supply chains and subsea interconnection cables.

We will also convene a high-level roundtable on energy security with keynotes from Lin Yang, Deputy Executive Secretary UN ESCAP and Chris Stark, Head of Mission Control for Clean Power, DESNZ, UK government.

GGI spokespeople

Georgie Skipper will be representing GGI. She is Co-Chair of GGI’s Asia Pacific Working Group with extensive experience in project finance, supply chains and international relations.

Clean Energy Leaders Dialogue at the Asian Clean Energy Summit

Tuesday 27 October
11:30–12:20 SGT – Sands Expo and Convention Centre

A panel discussion on building Asia’s next-generation clean energy portfolio with a focus on how to meet rising electricity demand and enhance energy security. The session will explore how to accelerate not only renewables but also the complementary technologies needed to deliver reliable, scalable and commercially viable low-carbon energy systems.
The transmission supply chain is the single biggest bottleneck to energy independence in the Asia-Pacific.

Advancing Cables and Related Power Infrastructure in Realising ASEAN Power Grid

Wednesday 28 October
14:00–14:40 SGT – Sands Expo and Convention Centre

This event hosted at the Future of the Grid conference will cover how to operationalise the ASEAN subsea power cable development framework, the technical challenge of “landing” huge power loads into existing national grids, and will focus on the interconnection between Singapore and Sarawak.

Mapping strategies for system flexibility: what's possible with distributed energy resources

Wednesday 28 October
15:30–16:30 SGT – Orchard Rendezvous Hotel

This ISGAN workshop, organised in collaboration with the ASEAN Centre for Energy (ACE), the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), and the Energy Research Institute at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), aims to identify practical approaches and initial enabling actions to unlock the potential of distributed energy resources (DER) for more affordable, flexible, reliable and resilient power systems, drawing on international experience and addressing the specific opportunities and challenges facing Southeast Asian countries.

SIEW 2026 roundtable: Establishing the Asia-Pacific Energy Security Taskforce

Thursday 29 October
14:00–15:30 SGT – Arup Singapore

This closed door senior-level roundtable will define the scope of the new taskforce that will engage interested governments, identify country-specific priorities, and facilitate access to relevant technical assistance to unlock grid capacity and strengthen energy security.

The session will begin with keynotes from Lin Yang, Deputy Executive Secretary UN ESCAP and Chris Stark, Head of Mission Control for Clean Power, DESNZ, UK government.
Cross-border interconnectors in the Asia-Pacific enable countries to trade domestically generated renewable electricity rather than compete for imported fossil fuel.
