How climate finance is powering grid development in the Dominican Republic

The Green Grids Initiative (GGI) has released Annex 1 of its Climate Finance Principles, spotlighting the Dominican Republic as a case study for leveraging climate finance to expand grid infrastructure.

The annex explores the country’s success in mobilising $85 million in climate finance, addressing grid capacity challenges, and supporting a renewable energy transition. This case study demonstrates how targeted investments in grid development can align with climate goals while fostering economic resilience and inclusivity.

By detailing practical applications of GGI’s principles, Annex 1 offers valuable insights for nations seeking to secure the funding needed to power their clean energy ambitions.
